The Journey Begins

Thanks for joining me!

IMG_2787.JPGI first started traveling when I was only three. My parents took me to Georgia to visit family. They also took me to Disney World in Florida when I was three, and then again at 5. My dad bought roughly 84 acres of woods in Michigan when I was 4 and we camped there every spare weekend we had. We didn’thave any electricity or water besides what we brought in the camper and the generator.

I got my first quad when I was 5, it was very little and could only go 10 mph. It also had a fun little horn. I got upgraded to a 450 when I was10, it goes through all the trails and mud that my old one couldn’t. The woods were full of nature, plants and animals. Camping there from 4 to 18 years old gave me a greater appreciation for the outdoors in general and contributed to my love of traveling.

When I was 10 I went on a cruise in Alaska. It was a mixture of land and sea, meaning we stopped for days at different cities to explore. This was one of my favorite vacations. There was so much nature with mountains, rolling fields, rushing rivers and waterfalls, icebergs, and so many animals. I am a huge animal lover and I can truly say Alaska has the most wildlife out of the states I’ve been too.

At 12 years old I was on another cruise, but this time to the Caribbean. Me and my parents went on this cruise with a group of friends, I was the youngest one out of the group and I actually had a great time hanging out with the older kids in the group around the ship. The water was so clear and blue, it was different shades of beautiful blue from island to island.

When I was 13 my dad took me to California for the first time to visit one of my cousins. We explored the southern part of the state around San Diego. My favorite part of the trip was visiting the San Diego Zoo. My dad took me to California again when I was 18, this time to see my cousin get married. This trip was when I really fell in love with the state. We explored the northern part this time, from Hollywood to Sacramento. We both the populated city part, and the sprawling mountains and Red Woods.

My mom took me to Florida when I was 14, we went to Disney World and Sea World. This was a family trip with my grandma and grandpa and two of my cousins. This was a great experience and brought us even closer together as a family.

I’ve also been to Chicago a few times, Wisconsin Dells, and Washington D.C on smaller trips. A few of the trips, such as one of the Chicago visits and Washington D.C, involved school. Washington D.C is something my grade school does for the 7th and 8th graders every other year. I went to Chicago fo the second time with my high school. My high school has a tour every year where the higher level band and choir go to churches in the surrounding states and perform for a service. We had a few stops in Illinois and took a break in Chicago to explore.

Besides my big trips and camping in the woods we owned, I also went on yearly camping trips to places like Silver Lake Sand Dunes near Ludington and Aloha in Cheboygan.

Throughout my blog I will be posting about my experience in these trips and even places that I missed or I want to go to one day. I hope that you will take this journey with me! My favorite vacation was my cruise in Alaska, what was yours?

  1. I am very jealous of all the traveling that you have done already in your life. My traveling has mostly been just between Michigan and Florida and I look forward to experiencing all of your adventures. Maybe it will give me some motivation to get out there and make my own memories.
